Easter 2017

Flying started a day earlier with 6 pilots getting out to paddock to dust of the cobwebs. Most pilots got up and away with a few 50km flights, despite towing not starting till after 3pm. Winds were light SW with a 4000ft inversion.

Friday
Light SW winds and a 56km task was set to Kunat. There was good lift at the paddock and for the start of the task, but then it seemed to get much harder. 3 pilots made goal with Peter Lissenberg winning the day.

Saturday
Winds were lighter today with a NW expected, but the wind settled in at a WSW. The crosswind slowed things down a bit in the paddock. A 39km task to the East was set and 10 pilots made goal in quite fast times. It was a much better day than the forecast indicated. Grant Heaney waon the day with a speed of 50km/h.

Sunday
Even lighter winds (WSW) and high cloud made this a tricky day. Early tows were getting up but then the high level cloud came in. Grant was the only pilot to get to 39km goal near Ultima.

Monday
The winds were even lighter today. Pretty much no wind from the S. A 36km task to North was called and 4 pilots made it in, with Grant taking the win again.

Overall winer was Grant, with Hughbert Alexander in 2nd and Peter in 3rd. Darryl Biggar won the Steve Ruffles Memorial Award and Randall Clotworthy took out the major prize (13th).

A few pilots stayed for a bit more flying. It was quite a struggle in the no wind (from the S) conditions on Tuesday, but Wednesady turned on with flights over 100km.
