Birchip is a small town situated about 30km west of Wycheproof in the Mallee district of Victoria's northwest. The town has one pub and a caravan park (with a couple of motel rooms) for accommodation. There is also a camping area at Tcham Lake approximately 6km east of town. It is a nice spot but very exposed if it is windy. If you are planning on staying at the lake, make sure the shower facilities will be open.

The weather in Birchip at this time of year is generally mild and sunny, the thermals mellow. Tasks are seldom over 100km and pickups are usually straightforward. Expect to be back at HQ before 7:00pm.

The tow paddock is situated approximately 25km NNE of town on the corner of the Birchip/Berriwillock road and theWarne road.
